Compared to a current university curriculum, this is a very narrow topic. This would produce an individual very prepared for web development, but would be under prepared for much else. In fact there is only one course remotely dealing with algorithm analysis (Performance Optimization). There also was no courses dealing with security issues.

IMO universities should continue to teach the more theoretical topics such as discrete structures, algorithms, and security. I feel that several of the courses could be used to help a student specialize in web standards, and to help the student respect and follow them.

Thanks for the comments guys!

@Chris - I believe that is part of the goal - to 'produce an individual very prepared for web development'. Considering that this curriculum is intended to be for a web development degree, I think the focus is easily justified.

That being said, I do understand your concern, particularly in the area of security. I would imagine that security will be discussed in the more advanced DOM Scripting courses, as well as the server side development courses.

I would suggest sharing your concern of a lack of discussion on this topic over at the InterAct site. This is exactly the kind of discussion and feedback they are encouraging on their site in order to ensure the curriculum accomplishes its goal to provide a 'well rounded foundation in the many facets of the web design craft'.
